UK Carbody Limited is thrilled to announce that we have attained Level 4, 'Predictable,' accreditation under the Accident Repair Industry Environmental Standard (ARIES)!
This significant milestone validates our organised, continuous, and independently audited dedication to measurable carbon reduction and operational efficiency within the vehicle accident repair sector.
"I am immensely proud of our entire team for their efforts in achieving this remarkable accomplishment"
Devin Cavanagh, Managing Director
What Level 4 Means for Our Partners and Customers:
Verified Reductions: Our success is grounded in the confirmed year-on-year decrease of our total emissions, illustrating significant advancement towards our bold reduction goal by 2030.
Predictable Performance:
The 'Predictable' level indicates that our Carbon Reduction Management Plan (CRMP) has been fully implemented for our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, guaranteeing consistent and superior environmental performance.
Investment Over Offsetting:
Aligned with the revised ARIES framework, we emphasize investing in energy and carbon reduction initiatives instead of relying on residual offsetting, thereby fostering authentic, on-site transformation. We have already implemented leading upgrades in the sector, including:
- Full LED Lighting: This has drastically reduced our electricity demand across the entire building.
- Insulation Excellence: Our workshops do not require conventional heating due to excellent insulation, directly translating to massive Scope 1 natural gas savings.
- Spray Booth Optimisation: We have state-of-the-art Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) fitted to our spray booths, making the single largest energy consumer highly efficient.
- Compressed Air Efficiency: Our compressor system is leak-free, eliminating a major source of wasted energy common in the industry.
- Future-Ready Compliance: Reaching this level demonstrates our readiness for the future of environmental reporting, aligning us with key principles of international standards like ISO 14068-1 and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
We are now turning our attention to enhancing the efficiency of our operations and supply chain:
- Material and Process Emphasis: Assessing advanced curing technologies and refining our material usage practices to achieve more substantial reductions.
- Supply Chain Engagement (Scope 3): Working closely with our suppliers to ensure we continue to source low-carbon parts and materials, addressing our largest emission source of Purchased Goods and Services (118.55 tCO2e)1.
- This is more than compliance; it is a long-term investment in the sustainability of our business, our community in Bristol, and the future of the accident repair sector.
We look forward to continuing to partner with our insurers and work providers as we drive towards the next level of the ARIES framework!
